Google Business Profile Audit: what this free audit checks
Google Business Profile Audit helps you review the website and local SEO signals that support a business listing. This free SocialManager tool checks only information it can inspect reliably. It does not invent Google rankings, private profile data, review-response metrics, or owner-only performance numbers when those signals are not available.
What the Google Business Profile Audit checks
The current audit reviews more than 30 checks, led by Google Business Profile setup, business information, reviews, photos/media and profile activity, with website/local SEO used as a supporting layer. Checks include HTTPS, indexability, SEO title, meta description, canonical URL, mobile viewport, page language, H1 structure, LocalBusiness or Organization structured data, business-name consistency, phone and contact signals, location or service-area wording, robots.txt, XML sitemap, Open Graph metadata, favicon, contact paths, social profile links and image alt attributes.
The audit also accepts an optional Google Maps or Business Profile URL. Supplying the exact share URL helps associate the report with the intended listing, but the tool does not pretend that a pasted URL gives it access to private Google Business Profile data.
How the Google Business Profile Audit score works
The score is calculated only from checks that can actually be evaluated. A signal marked Unable to Verify is excluded from scoring instead of being treated as a failure. This prevents unavailable Google data from unfairly lowering the result.
Each finding is labelled as Verified, Calculated, or Unable to Verify. Verified means the tool directly detected the signal. Calculated means the result is derived from detected information using a clear rule. Unable to Verify means there is not enough reliable evidence to make a factual claim.
Use the report as an actionable fix list
Every issue includes a priority and a practical “How to fix” instruction. Start with high-priority technical problems such as a blocked or non-indexable website. Then improve local business information consistency, structured data, titles, descriptions and customer contact paths. Re-run the audit after making changes so you can compare the new report with your saved history.
For broader business workflows, you can also open SocialManager Business Manager or use the free utilities available in Tools Manager. More local SEO explanations and implementation guides are available on the SocialManager Blog.
What a zero-paid-API audit cannot verify
A public website audit cannot reliably read owner-only Google Business Profile information such as private performance metrics, management permissions, internal Google updates or account-level profile states. Those items should never be guessed. When a signal cannot be established from inspectable information, the report shows Unable to Verify.
For official guidance about editing and managing a Business Profile, use the Google Business Profile Help Center. SocialManager’s recommendations are implementation guidance and do not guarantee a specific Google Search or Maps ranking.
Google Business Profile Audit FAQ
Is this Google Business Profile Audit free?
Yes. The core audit is designed to run without a paid third-party API requirement. Guest visitors receive a limited result, while a logged-in SocialManager account can view the complete supported report and save audit history.
Does the audit change my Google Business Profile?
No. The current audit is read-only. It checks your submitted website and other inspectable signals and then provides fix guidance. It does not edit a Google Business Profile or publish changes to Google.
Can the tool guarantee a number-one Google Maps ranking?
No. A trustworthy Google Business Profile Audit should not promise a specific ranking. Search visibility depends on many factors, including relevance, distance, prominence, competition and Google systems that are not fully exposed to third-party tools.
Why does a report show Unable to Verify?
That label means the tool does not have enough reliable evidence for the check. It is intentionally different from a failure. Unavailable information is excluded from the score rather than being converted into a fake negative finding.
Run your Google Business Profile Audit again after improvements
Fix the highest-priority findings first, then return to the audit form above and run another scan. Logged-in users can use saved history to compare progress without replacing earlier reports.
